Our Story

My name is Grace and I am a college student; this is my story…

A few years ago, I started playing soccer. I joined a team where many of the girls had been playing together for years. But my story is not about soccer, it is about one girl on the team that was always so welcoming and kind to me. Caveri was always there to greet me with a smile and a big hug. She barely knew me and made me feel like I had been a part of the team forever. If I was nervous about a game, Caveri always knew just what to say to pump me up. She had a genuine kindness that was rare, and I felt blessed to have her as a teammate. As time passed, the team split up and players went their own ways. I ran into Caveri a year or so later, and we hugged and talked about how we missed our old team and we missed being together. A few months later, my heart broke into a million tiny pieces when I was told that she had passed away. Caveri was sick for a very short time, and I had no idea. I was extremely angry, sad, and questioned how this could be possible. It was then that I realized that Caveri had left an imprint on my heart that I would never forget. An imprint that moved me to do something to honor her inspirational gift of kindness.

Ever since I was very young, I have loved candles. I use them to relax before a soccer game, to focus when I study, or just to make me happy with a wonderful scent that puts a smile on my face. I did some research and realized how unhealthy most candles really are. Many candles are made of paraffin wax which creates highly toxic benzene and toluene when burned, and both are known carcinogens! I began making candles with 100% soy wax and a crackling wood wick, and I fell in love. My candles are clean burning and I want to share this healthy version of candles with everyone, so no one will breathe toxins in their homes just because they want to smell something beautiful.

When I made the decision to start making health conscious candles, I knew I wanted to bring attention to a special charity organization run by Caveri’s amazing mother. This organization is called the LOVE UNLIMITED FOUNDATION, INC. Their mission is to end the poverty cycle in Jamaica through education by providing backpacks, school supplies, and scholarships to children in need. In honor of Caveri, PURE GRACE SOY CANDLES will donate 50% of all our proceeds to this amazing organization.

PURE GRACE has several meanings, including my name. But the meaning I like most is, “The exercise of love, kindness, mercy, and favor.” I hope PURE GRACE SOY CANDLES will light your home with exactly this love and kindness, the way Caveri moved me with her unforgettable kindness to make non-toxic soy candles, and support a wonderful charity that can positively change so many lives. Caveri is the true definition of PURE GRACE.

Thank you so much for supporting my vision!
