Why Soy Wax?

Soy wax is a natural, renewable resource. Soy wax burns clean with no toxins, carcinogens, or pollutants. It is biodegradable and cleans up with plain old soap and water. Soy wax has a lower melting point than paraffin wax and because of this, soy candles will burn slower or longer than paraffin candles. Soy wax burns with zero petro soot, creating soot free candles. Our soy wax is dye-free and vegan.

Why Do I Have Smoky Stains on My Glass Candle Jar?

Super long wicks are the top cause of those nasty smoky stains that end up on your glass jar candles. Trimming the wick keeps the flame in control and helps prevent marks from forming. Let the candle cool down to room temperature and trim the wick by pinching off the burned ashes with your fingers or a wick trimmer before relighting.

What Are Some Ways to Re-Purpose my Candle Jar?

There are so many different ways to use your candle jars when they are done burning. Simply heat up some water on the stovetop, then let your candle jar soak in the hot water until the leftover wax has melted. Pop the wick out from the bottom of the container and throw away the excess wax. Wash your jar with warm soapy water. We love to use our candle jars as a drinking glass, a flower vase, a holder for bathroom accessories, and makeup brushes fit perfectly. You can use them to hold office supplies, charger cords, or on a nightstand or dresser to hold jewelry, spare change, medication, hand lotion, earplugs, the possibilities are endless!

Why is it Hard to Light my Candle or Keep it Lit?

Wooden wicks can be a little tricky to burn if you’re not used to them. The best way to light a wooden wick is to tilt the candle at an angle and let the flame draw across the length of the wick (the way you tilt a match after lighting). It may take several tries to get it lit. Sometimes it just needs a re-light to allow the wax to start flowing up the wick. Stick lighters work much better than matches because you should keep the lighter on the wood wick for 15-20 seconds longer than a normal cotton wick. The added heat is necessary so your flame can feed on the new wood.

Why a Wooden Wick?

We use sustainably harvested natural wooden wicks. Wood wicks are a bit different than a traditional cotton wick – they amplify your candle experience by burning longer, cleaner, and create a charming crackling sound with a dancing flame. These wicks don’t get the carbon build-up that needs to be trimmed from cotton wicks, but they will develop a slight amount of ash at the tip of the wick. The ash can be easily broken off when cool before relighting. You can simply pinch off the ash with your fingers or a wick trimmer. This is important for your candle to burn properly. Sometimes, if there is too much ash build-up, you will notice the flame getting smaller, but once you remove it, the flame comes right back to life. Just be careful not to leave any debris in your candle. The shorter the wick, the better the flame. If the wick is too long, it won’t pull the wax and will extinguish quickly.

Why do my Candles Turn Yellow or Fade?

All our candles are made using natural products and contain no ultraviolet stabilizers. In bright sunlight or under florescent lights they can turn yellow or have the natural color of the wax fade. This does not change the scent or degrade the candle in any way.

How Do You Pick Your Fragrance Oils?

Originally, we wanted to make our candles using only essential oils. But during our research we found that essential oils should not be heated in candles because heat can change the chemical composition of the oils. Not only can they become toxic, but they lose their beneficial health properties. So, what is the alternative? Using superior quality, paraben and phthalate free fragrance oils infused with essential oils that are designed for candles and SAFE to burn!

Why is There Wax Left on the Jar After the Candle has Burned?

It is normal for a small amount of residual wax to be left on the jar when burning. Since soy wax is sticky and designed to cling to the inside of the container, it will often leave small spots or streaks of residue on the glass. Candles that do not leave any residue are usually a soy wax blend, which means they are not all natural.

How Can I get the Strongest Scent From my Candle?

One thing you can do is place your candles far away from air vents to maximize their scent. A fan or an air vent can affect how strong the candle smells. Also, use the candle lid to cover your candle when it’s not being used. Candle lids are great for keeping dust and other airborne particles out of your candles, but they also help preserve your candle’s fragrance. Lastly, each time you burn your candle, letting the whole top layer melt means you’ll get the most scent possible out of your candle.
